They have square watermelons in Japan

Strange but apparently true this one, farmers grow square water melons to make them easier to store in fridges and to stack. Fitting 4 round shaped watermelons in a fridge is quite difficult so a Zentsuji farmer came up with the idea of putting the watermelons in a square glass container while it is still growing to force it in to the square shape. Each watermelon retails for around 10,000 YEN or £68 making them quite expensive.
